Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band

The 1st nine – twelve weeks of the school year is devoted to Marching Band which includes performances at home and away football games, Band Shows/Competitions, festivals, and parades. The remainder of the 2nd nine weeks, 3rd, and 4th nine weeks are devoted to Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble (with the exception of the Memorial Day Parade). All students must audition for these groups in late October/early November and all three groups go to District Band Contest in March.

 

The Wind Ensemble is a select group of musicians that perform above average high school to university level and professional level band literature. All members of Wind Ensemble are expected to go to Solo & Ensemble Contest. It is also highly encouraged for students in this group to take private lessons. Membership is open to all students enrolled in Instrumental Music 6100.

 

The Symphonic Band performs high school literature to university level music and performs a wide variety of classic band literature, contest pieces, and other music. Students in this group are also highly encouraged to take private lessons. It is necessary in order to achieve the technique needed to play the music at a high level,

 

The Concert Band performs high school literature with wide variety of classic band literature, contest pieces, and other music. And, students are certainly encouraged to take private lessons in order to progress to the next level, preparing them to enter the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.

 

The fourth nine weeks of the school year is a combination of Symphonic Band/Concert Band, and Marching Band rehearsals in preparation for any spring music festivals or local performances that the bands may have.
